Our history is rich and our story full of flavour.
Based on the Southern edge of England’s most famous National Park, Higginsons is an award-winning family butcher and pie maker with a reputation for the highest quality meat along with a deep rooted connection to the local landforms and communities.
The business was founded in 1983 by Stuart and Pauline Higginson and continues today with the next generation serving up a blend of family favourites and new additions.
Operating from the same high street location in Grange-over-Sands, Higginsons now also incorporates a Deli where our legendary pies can be purchased, a dedicated butchery unit, a bakery and Higginsons Takeout – a takeaway food and drink establishment serving a variety of freshly-made hot and cold meals.
Whilst the business has seen many developments over the years, our simple ethos remains the same – to bring the highest quality food and meat to our customers with care and commitment. To that end, we continue to source the very best meat from the farms on our doorstep and fuse traditional practice with modern tastes. A wealth of experience lies among our team of skilled butchers and bakers, who will cater for your every need with passion and enthusiasm.
We are proud to produce our own multi award-winning Cumberland Sausage, award-winning home-cured Bacon and rare breed Pork from our base in Grange-Over-Sands. We also supply local Cumbrian specialities such as seasonal Morecambe Bay Saltmarsh Lamb, Lakeland Lakeland Herdwick Lamb, heritage beef and local Game. Our hand-made pies, cooked fresh everyday by our bakers have achieved legendary status and can be purchased both from our shop and through a number of regional retailers.
Over the years, our innovative products have earned us national and international acclaim and our greatest achievement came when we were named Britain’s Best Butchers.
